College and grad school can bring long-standing difficulties with attention, organization, learning, or social communication into sharper focus. If you’re a student wondering whether an evaluation could help, your student health plan may make it more accessible than you think.
UC SHIP
Cogniscribe accepts UC SHIP through Anthem Blue Cross and Wellfleet for participating schools. UC SHIP students typically need a referral from campus Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) or Student Health Services before seeing an outside provider. We help check your benefits and referral status before scheduling. More on our UC SHIP page.
Aetna Student Health
Cogniscribe is an in-network Aetna provider and accepts Aetna Student Health plans. Each plan is designed for a specific college or university, so referral and authorization requirements can differ. Some plans ask for a campus referral; others allow direct access. We review your plan with you. More on our Aetna Student Health page.
What students are often evaluated for
- ADHD: attention, time management, task initiation
- Autism, including first-time diagnosis in adulthood
- Learning and academic concerns: reading, writing, math
- Cognitive functioning and diagnostic clarification
Can an evaluation help with accommodations?
When clinically appropriate, a report can document findings and recommendations relevant to accommodation requests. Your university decides eligibility and which accommodations are provided, so it’s smart to review your school’s documentation requirements before testing.
Do I need to be near Roseville or Sacramento?
Not necessarily. Our offices are in Roseville and Fair Oaks, and we provide assessment throughout California by telehealth when remote assessment is clinically appropriate. If in-person testing is needed, we’ll discuss it before scheduling.
Insurance verification is not a guarantee of coverage. Benefits, referral requirements, and cost sharing vary by plan.
Ready to take the next step?
Share your student plan details in the screening form and we’ll check your benefits and referral requirements.
